How would you help someone from road accident ?
* ALWAYS WALK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD
* CROSS THE ROAD AT ZEBRA CROSSING ONLY. IF THERE IS NO ZEBRA CROSSINGS, CROSS THE ROAD WHEN NO ANY TRAFFIC IS COMING FROM EITHER SIDE.
* DO NOT GET INTO OR STEP DOWN A MOVING VEHICLE
* PLAY WITH SAFE AND AVOID SHARP OBJECTS
* DO NOT PLAY OR RUN ON THE ROAD
* DO NOT PLAY ON THE TERRACE WITHOUT RAILINGS
* DO NOT SWIMMING ALONE IN VERY DEEP WATER
* THERE SHOULD BE A PROPER LIGHTING IN ALL THE PROPER PLACES AS WELL AS IN THE STAIR- CASE.
* YOU SHOULD USE A PROPER LADDER OR A HIGH STOOL TO REACH SHELVES AND LOFTS
* MEDICINES HAVE CLEAR LABELS ON THEM. THEY SHOULD BE KEPT LOCKED IN A CUPBOARD. NEVER TAKE ANY MEDICINE WITHOUT ASKING YOUR ELDERS OR PROPER PRESCRIPTIONS
* DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING FROM STRANGERS TO EAT OR DRINK
* BE CAREFUL WHILE TRAVELLING IN A VEHICLE.
Accidents cause a lot of pain and suffering. A person may lose his or her life or may become permanently disabled due to some serious injury to the body. carelessness can lead to accidents. Sometimes even if we are careful, accident occur.
Accidents occur at home mostly due to fire which causes burns. Boiling water, Chemicals like acids, oils and many fireworks can cause burns. we should be careful when we handle these things. we should not leave burning objects on the floor. Things such as KEROSENE AND INSECTISIDES that can catch fire easily and spread it fast should be kept in a safe place outside the kitchen. You should be careful when you are working in the kitchen. if you smell LPG GAS, turn it off immediately. Open all the windows and doors of the kitchen at once. Don't light a match box or a lighter. Don't switch on any Electric switch. Don't wear loose, flowing and synthetic clothes in the kitchen. They catch the fire instantly.
ACCIDENT ON FIRE :
We should also be very careful while using Electrical Appliances such as a Fan, an iron, Television, Heater etc. Don't touch their wires. Operate them Only through their switches. Never touch any electrical wires or switches with Wet hands. Throw sand or mud on the fire but not water. Water can give you an electric shock. Always use a fire extinguisher to fight the fire. You must also know how to use fire extinguisher it.
WHAT TO DO WHEN IF THERE IS A FIRE :
Already we have learnt that fire needs air to burn. so, one method of putting out fire is to cut off its air supply. In case of small fires, do the follow below Suggestion as- Fire can harm life and property. If there is a big fire, immediately telephone the fire-brigade. If someone's clothes are on fire, stop the victim from running for help. Get the victim to lie down and roll on the ground or wrap a blanket or thick cloth around him to put out the flames and immediately call the doctor.
WHAT IS FIRST AID :
When a person gets injured, a doctor or a medical practitioner may not be immediately available. The aid or primary treatment or care given to a victim before the arrival of the doctor is called FIRST AID. Proper first aid can prevent the injury from getting worse. It is therefore important for all of us to know to give first aid in different kinds of accidents.
WOUNDS :
It causes a wound when skin is cut or torn no matter, If the wound is minor, it should not be ignored, otherwise germs can enter through uncovered wound and infect it. To treatment a minor wound, first of all, wash your hands with soap and water. Then clean the wound well with water. Apply an Antiseptic solution on cotton-wool to clean the wound. If there is a lot of bleeding, apply ice on the wound. This will help in stopping the bleeding. Cover the wound with a medicated self adhesive tape or a bandage with an antiseptic cream on a cotton wool. If the wound is deep, the victim should be taken to a doctor after cleaning the wound. If bleeding from the wound doesn't stop, use TOURNIQUET. Tourniquet is a piece of cloth tied over the bleeding point with the help of a piece of wood. Tourniquet is a tight band that is twisted above a wound with a pressure to control heavy bleeding.
NOSE BLEEDING :
Sometimes , We may find person's nose bleeding on a hot summer day. In such a case, Loosen the clothing around your neck, sit upright with your head back and arms folded above the head. Press your thumb the bleeding side of your nose securely with your fingers. Put some wet cloth or an ice-pack on your head. Breathe through your mouth and don't blow your nose for a few hours after the stoppage of bleeding. If your bleeding doesn't stop then call the Doctor.
FRACTURES :
When a person falls and gets hurt, a bone may get broken or cracked. The victim will be in great pain and will not be able to lift the broken limb. There will be swelling and a bend in the bone where there is no joint. Any break or crack in the bone is called a FRACTURE.
In case of a fracture, follow these rules :
1. Keep the patient calm and comfortable and send the doctor immediately. Make sure that the broken limb is in as natural a position as possible.
2. Apply a splint to give support to the broken bone and to prevent unnecessary movement. Any easily available article like as - Sheets of newspaper, magazines, cardboard or a pillow be bound around the injured bone which acts as a splint and it will be prevent further usual place of the broken bone. Tie a firm bandage around the joint.
3. If a bone in the hand is broken, make a sling using a cloth or a bandage. The sling gives support to the arm and prevents its movement.
4. Get an x-ray of the fractured part and take the patient to the doctor of bones.
SPRAIN :
Sometimes , joints such as ankle or wrist can get twisted resulting in a SPRAIN. The joint inflate up and is mostly very painful. A sprained joint should not be moved before it is healed. An elastic bandage can be wrapped around the joint to keep it still from moving. Some sprain removing ointment can be lightly rubbed two or three times a day over sprain joint.
ANIMAL BITES :
1. Wash the wound with soap and running water to remove germs as the virus causing rabies is carried in the saliva of an infected animal, such as- Dogs, Wolves, Bats and Cats are known to carry the rabies virus.
2. Apply an antiseptic to prevent infection. Bandage the wound using a sterile gauge.
SNAKE BITES :
Snake bite needs immediate first aid because the poison of a snake moves very fast through the blood and affects the heart and brain causing death.
1. Apply a tourniquet, just above the bite to stop the flow of blood to the heart. This may help to slow down the spread of poison.
2. Rush the victim to the doctor as fast as possible.
POISONING :
Do you know that many important common things you see in your home may be poisonous ? Paint, Nail-polish, Boot-polish, detergents, Naphthalene balls and some medicines are poisonous, Thus always wash properly everything like fruits, vegetables and many other foods before eating them. They have been sprayed with harmful insecticides and pesticides. In case you feel of any kind of poisoning , try to induce vomiting in the victim and rush the victim to the doctor.
